What has Rope Flow done for me?

I was introduced to Rope Flow in Spring 2026, so I am relatively new to the practice. However, in the time so far I have been practicing I have experienced a really profound change in my body.

Back at the end of 2024 our child was diagnosed with Burkitt's Lymphoma, and our world abruptly changed. We spent the next year in and out of hospital, and my well-being and health was bottom of my priorities. Thankfully our child recovered and life went on. Months of stress and worry had translated into back and shoulder pains that no amount of massage or doctor visits could cure. I just assumed that I would have to get used to living with back, neck and shoulder pain for the rest of my life.

My partner introduced me to Rope Flow. I didn't really take to it at first, but I REALLY wanted to be able to get competent at the Dragon Roll, as it looked awesome and I wanted a challenge! It took me a couple of weeks to nail it, and during that time I began to notice that...things in my body were changing for the better. Amongst other things;

  • I can look over my shoulder much further.
  • Getting things off high shelves was easier.
  • A persistent, decades long pain in my hip has almost vanished.
  • My feet don't cramp like they used to.
  • My spine felt more mobile and flexible.
  • My swimming stroke has improved
  • My body feels 'alive' in a way that I have never experienced.
  • I don't ache after a workout like you do with other forms of exercise

If you have an injury and are worried about exercise, this is the perfect activity. You do not need to strain yourself, just let the rope guide you! I put on music and have a blast moving in time to the rhythm- it can get very addictive! If you love dancing you will love Rope Flow.

You do not need to follow a routine! Once you have established a few of the basic moves you will find that you can create your own Flow very quickly! There is no grading system or set routines you need to learn (although they are out there if you prefer this way)

It's cheap! All you need is a Rope and some space. No Gym subscriptions, expensive clothing or footwear. Once you buy your Rope you have all you need!

It's social! You can Rope Flow in a park with your friends or with a like minded group (such as SRF!)

It's helped me, and it can help you.
